The Eighth meeting of Network for the Coordination of Statistical Training in Asia and the Pacific (the Network), the subgroups will report their activities and the Network will discuss further development of their activities.

All the events will be organised in Chiba, Japan and online mode between 12 and 15 December 2022. The Council, in the session, will consider several issues, including the report of the Director on its achievements in 2022 and the proposed work plan for 2023. For the Network, the subgroup on gender statistics will report their activities and the Network will discuss further development of training on environment statistics.

• To review its work programme for 2016 and 2017 and map out a work programme for 2017 and 2018;
• To discuss the role of the Network in implementing the training component of the Regional Programme on Economic Statistics;

To support statistical training providers in the Asia-Pacific region to assess training needs, design and deliver statistical training programmes for official statisticians working at National Statistical Systems (NSSs) in a more harmonized form and with higher quality, SIAP is organizing a Training of Trainers (ToT) workshop (21-24 March 2017). The ToT workshop aims to bring senior officials from institutes providing training on official statistics in the Asia-Pacific region to share best practices regarding training design and facilitation.

The ESCAP Committee on Statistics, at its third session, decided to establish a Network for the Coordination of Statistical Training in Asia and the Pacific (the Network) and tasked SIAP to facilitate its work. The inception and organizational meeting of the Network was held during 22 to 24 April 2014 in Chiba, Japan.

The main objective of the workshop is to improve institutional capacity of national statistical systems (NSSs) in designing, developing and delivering training on official statistics. The workshop also aims at piloting a ToT manual, including a generic template that can be utilized by training providers to develop specialized ToT manuals/guides.
